Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a type of butt augmentation procedure which results in youthful looking perky butts. In this procedure, a person’s own fat is used to perk up the butts. It has become a rage among people of all ages. People who undergo this procedure are a person with sagging butts, flat butts, small BBL, asymmetrical butts and massive weigh loss which has changed their butt’s shape.

Brazilian butt lift Procedure

The technique of butt augmentation varies among different surgeons. Their method will have a bearing n the results of an individual. Fat extraction is done by liposuction. The fat is injected back in the body in the final step. The fat is filled in the upper quadrant of the butt to make it look perky. It helps in giving a person more attractive profile.

Tumescent liposuction is used to suck fat which is later used for grafting in the butts. Common areas for liposuction are back, stomach and thighs. Liposuction also gives a good appearance to the body. After liposuction, the fat is carefully processed by decanting and centrifugation. Only a small fraction which is around 25 percent of the fat taken out from a person’s body qualifies for reinjection. At least two to three areas undergo liposuction to get best quality fat for reinjection in the butts.

The fat is reinjected by hundreds of injections with special cannulas. Small amounts of purified fats are injected in the butts at different depths and areas to get a higher absorption. It involves hundreds of micro fat injections. Proper injection is required to get a smooth and natural appearance.

Success of this procedure depends very highly on the technique used. A patient should clarify all the doubts in their minds before opting for this surgery. Getting a big butt should not be the aim of this surgery.

Local anesthesia is used in this procedure. IV sedation is a much safer choice. Butt implants can also be used instead of a person’s own fat. However, Brazilian butt lift is superior to implants. Butt implants have a higher complication rates and the results aren’t as good.

Patients require a medical clearance two weeks prior to the surgery. History, physical and a complete blood count are required. Smoking should be stopped four weeks prior to surgery and aspirin a week before. A person should not eat or drink from the evening before the surgery. Post operative recovery involves: bed rest, lot of fluid intake during the first week, not sitting on BBL directly for three weeks, not driving for 3 weeks, minimum 2 weeks off from work, following up with doctor and wearing compression garment as prescribed.

A patient should not sit on their butts directly for three weeks for best results. A compression garment should be used for two weeks. There can be swelling for upto three weeks and normal activities can be resumed after 4 weeks.

There are some risks and complications associated with butt lift like any other surgery. Possible complications are swelling, bruising, numbness, pain, stretch marks, hematoma, fat embolism and some loss of fat graft if proper post operative care is not taken.

If fat is harvested and injected properly, the results are fairly long lasting. Patients should always go for experienced surgeons to get a long lasting effect. Fat grafts should be unaffected even if a person loses weight if it is done properly by an experienced hand.
